Keynote Speaker

Chadwick Sapenter

Over the last decade I have worked with hundreds of thousands of current and former foster youth, foster and adoptive parents, social workers, CASA volunteers, government agencies and adoption ministries. These audiences appreciate me because I share my story with brutal honesty, humor and authenticity.

When I’m not speaking on foster care or adoption I am the founder and Chief Book Maker at Little Book of Words Publishing. As an entrepreneur I’ve had my share of successes and failures and I attribute my resilience to my hard upbringing and my experience as a former foster youth. My life has had it’s share of adversity, all of which has prepared me to have an impact on the lives of others and most importantly show that it is possible to achieve anything no matter what you’ve been through.

Along with being an entrepreneur I have written and published several books, the most recent ones are called “Little Book of Words Every Foster Kid Should Know” and “Little Book of Words Every Foster & Adoptive Parent Should Know,” both of these books are impacting the lives of current and former foster children and families nationwide.

I have worked as a board member or advisor to several organizations such as: Partnerships For Children, Casey Families, Ready By 21 Sub Committee, CASA, and the Texas Supreme Court Judicial Committee for youth, families, and children to name a few.

Mistress of Ceremonies

Quita Culpepper

Quita Culpepper.jpgJournalism has always been a huge part of my life...I remember being a little kid, my nose practically pressed against the tv screen watching the 11 o'clock news. (No, my parents didn't let me stay up that late. I snuck out of bed to see it! Sorry Mom and Dad!) My family and I moved from Upstate New York to Austin when I was 13, and I've come to think of this unique and quirky city as my second hometown.

I was lucky enough to get my first job in news right here in Austin, working for a local radio station, and after that, landed at KVUE, where I anchor KVUE News Weekend and report three days a week. I also get to do a consumer segment called "Does it Work Wednesday," which I really enjoy.

I've been in this business for more than 15 years...won quite a few awards and accolades along the way, and met everyone from the President of the United States to the man who works behind the counter at my favorite restaurant. And I've enjoyed every moment. I'm lucky enough to work with a great group of people.

Journalism -- this is what I do. And I'm proud to do it for KVUE.
